Givin' me the Look
Artist: Metronomy
Song: "The Look"
More indie awesomeness. More than anything, this song is just fun to listen to. It has a lot of layers that come together nicely. I dig it, and perhaps you will too.

Drippin' in funkiness
Artist: Tower of Power
Song "What is hip?"
This looks like it would have been a really fun show to see live. Awesome musicians and good showmen. The robotic native American at the beginning, a.k.a. Eddie McGee, the lead singer, has so much energy throughout the performance that you can't help but tap a toe and bob your head with him. Keep an eye out for the funky uprocking at 3:25. These guys are oozing with class.

Spill the wine
Artist: Eric Burdon & War
Song: "Spill the wine"
For some reason this song reminds me of being a kid again. It reminds me of a time when me, my little cousin and sister could all fit into the backseat of our grandpa's old VW bug, an accomplishment at the time, impossible now. He'd take us for long car rides just to get us out of the house and together we'd cruise LA county and the south bay, all the while K-Earth filled the space between our seats. You never fully realize how significant these little moments really are until you're older. Then you get older, hear a song and blog about it.

Feeling kinda soulful
Artist: Raphael Saadiq
Song: "Heaven"
This isn't the first time I've posted some of Raphael Saadiq's music on here, and it probably won't be the last. From time to time I find myself drifting back into a soul music kinda phase and this song's a prime example of why. Rhythm, blues, heart, soul and a voice that'll put even the angriest of men into a calm, soft mood.
This music isn't just good, it's great.
